Postcard Theology

This is excellent theology, simply stated, on a postcard I bought for my bulletin board. Life is one big party, delivered with grace. Not to say that there aren’t crashers, dip that stays out too long and spoils, hangovers when we move beyond moderation, rooms that get too crowded, songs we wish the DJ hadn’t played… but apart from the inherent (and ultimately useful) hassles, it really is pretty great. And it’s free.

Isaiah 55 says the same thing:

1 “Come, all you who are thirsty,
come to the waters;
and you who have no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without cost.

2 Why spend money on what is not bread,
and your labor on what does not satisfy?
Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,
and your soul will delight in the richest of fare.

Postcard theology. It’s good stuff.
